Nana Barya Faunal Reserve: In Search Of Wildlife

The Fauna de la Nana Barya Reserve is a game reserve in the Central African Republic.  It is located in Ouham Prefecture, in the western part of the country, 400 km north of the capital Bangui.

In the area around the Réserve de Faune de la Nana Barya, mainly savannah forest grows. Around the Reserve it is very sparsely populated, with 5 inhabitants per square kilometer. The savannah climate prevails in the area.

The park has kordofan giraffes, elephants, lions, leopards, giant elands and many more species. The park has barely had any visitors in the last few decades. We go to the park by 4×4 from Bangui to Batangafoa. After spending the night in Batangafoa we go towards the park where we’ll switch our car for a boat and will continue the rest of our expedition by boat. After the expedition in the park, we’ll drive back to Bangui, after which we will board the plane to go to Dzanga Sangha National Park.

This is a very adventurous expedition with rough conditions such as mud, mosquitoes and there will be no electricity or running water. Meals will be very simple, so it’s important to have realistic expectations. Make sure to have at least two – three buffer days in Bangui in case of any delays that may happen. We are not responsible for you missing your flight due to bad planning. We ask you to bring your own camping material.
